! La Primavera está ya más cerca!

17th February 2011

!Hola familia Ray!, la primavera está ya más cerca y el frio del invierno ya está desapareciendo. ! Qué bien!

Hello Ray family! Spring is closer and the cold weather of Winter is already dissapearing. That is very nice!

The pictures  (fotografías) I am showing on this blog are from different places in the world (mundo) and from different seasons (estaciones) of the year (año) , can you tell where they were taken and in what time of the year? Answers will be given in the next post.

OK, this is what is going on on my classes now:

4th Grade

We finished the assignment where the students have to write the months (meses) and seasons (estaciones) for both the South and North Hemisphere (Hemisferios North y Sur) and also they have to tell what they do in each season in the North Hemisphere.

We also learnt how to tell what is the weather like?, ¿qué tiempo hace?…hace frio, nieva, hace calor, hace sol, está despejado, hace viento, hace fresco, llueve, está nublado.

In the new assignment students will create 12 different drawings representing every month of the year; each month must have a drawing related to the weather and in Spanish the month, the season and what is the weather like.

!Buena suerte!

5th Grade

We are still with the Unit that talks about the house, the bedroom, objects of the bedroom and where things and people are located. After doing the first assignment we have the second one already going on and it is about drawing different objects in a bedroom and saying where they are located using the following prepositions: entre, arriba de, debajo de, a la derecha, a la izquierda, en, cerca de, lejos de.

Keep going potential interior designers!

6th Grade

We have the orals about our itineraries, we also wrote about our itineraries (check my last post) and now we start the new assignment:

Students have to create two photo albums (album de fotos), using photos or drawings of themselves. In the first photo album students will have, at least (they can have more), 6 drawings or pictures that represent daily routines; half of the visuals will tell in Spanish what is going on using Yo and the other half the same but using nosotros/nosotras.

In the second album students will do the same as in the first one but with no daily routines, they will create visuals with actions and activities that they do when they travel and visit other places.

I AM STARTING A NEW SECTION

Por favor, please, bring your pictures (fotos) and postcards (postales) from your travels (viajes) that I have a great spot (lugar) to display them (at the end of the year you will get them back ); this great spot is called “EL RINCON DEL VIAJERO” (The Traveler’s Corner) and I will  enrich my posts with your pictures and  postcards and all the beauty of them (if you want me to post them), so everybody will have the opportunity to see a piece of your travel memories on Ray’s web. I am so excited with the idea!, (!Estoy muy emocionado con la idea!)

We all  will learn about new places we probably  have never seen; Our imagination (imaginación)will have more opportunities to travel (viajar) and to dream (soñar) !

! Qué tengan una semana muy bonita!

Have a beautiful week!

! Comenzamos un nuevo periodo!

9th February 2011

Yes, we are starting a new marking period  and I really recommend all parents and tutors to check the parent portal on a regular basis; you will be able to see assignments, date-lines and if your child has turned the assignments in.

This is what we are doing in all groups:

4th grade

We are with the unit of ‘estaciones’ (seasons) . So far students need to have the different seasons with the months for ‘el hemisferio norte’, North Hemisphire’. Also, they need to have the seasons and the months for the ‘Hemisferio Sur’ (South Hemisphire).

We are going to learn how to tell what is the weather like in the North and South Hemisphire.

5th grade

We are starting Unit 5  from the book “Dentro de la casa” ( Inside the home). We are learning how to talk about the bedroom and the living room of our houses or apartments. So far we are describing our bedrooms and talking about the things that they have and do not have. We also will learn to describe where something is located.

In our first assignments students will give answers  for the following  questions:

1- ¿ Qué haces en (everybody has a different place of the house)? (Students have to give three different answers with full sentences using I ‘yo’)

2- ¿ Qué no haces en (in the place that each students is being given)? ((Students have to give three different answers with full sentences using I ‘yo’)

3- ¿ Qué  hacemos en (in the place that each students is being given)? (Students have to give three different answers with full sentences using we ‘ nosotros/nosotras’)

4- ¿ Qué no hacemos en (in the place that each students is being given)? (Students have to give three different answers with full sentences using we ‘ nosotros/nosotras’)

Date line for this assignment is February, Friday 11th; an extra extensión till Monday 14th. Turning the assignment in late it will mean a reduction of the grade of the assignment of 20 points.

6th grade

We are starting Unit 5  ! De viaje! (on a trip).

Our first assignment has two parts :

A) the answer for  the following questions  in Spanish for two different itineraries:

1- ¿ A qué hora sale tu vuelo?

2- ¿ A qué hora llega tu vuelo?

3- ¿ A qué hora despega tu vuelo?

4- ¿ A qué hora aterriza tu vuelo?

5- ¿ Qué haces en tu destino? (you have to give me three answers for each destination using I ‘yo’)

6- ¿ Qué hacen en tu destino? (you have to give me three answers for each destination using we ‘nosotros o nosotras’)

B) The oral part: I will ask each student the questions and they have to tell the aswers.

Date line for this first assignment will be February, Tuesday 15th.  Turning the assignment in late it will mean a reduction of the grade of the assignment of 20 points.
